A ‘Non-Traditional’ Switchgear-Protection Philosophy Poses a Breaker-Coordination Challenge
S&C recently completed a project to modernize and upgrade the protection-and-control system at a 60-year-old Canadian aluminum smelter facility. This new case study describes how S&C accomplished the task while also accommodating the customer’s nontraditional switchgear-protection philosophy for coordination between the tie-breakers and feeder breakers in case of a system fault.
