CHICAGO, September 27, 2021 – Chicago-based S&C Electric Company, a leading innovator of advanced electrical grid equipment, today announced its annual employee-driven charitable campaign raised more than $400,000. Collecting donations from team members over the summer, the 2021 annual giving campaign will benefit a number of Chicago-area charities, including CHC: Creating Healthier Communities, Feeding America®, Misericordia, and United Way. This annual campaign is a longstanding company tradition in which team members donate funds with a 150 percent match from S&C.

“S&C is dedicated to giving back to the Rogers Park neighborhood and the city of Chicago, which we have called home for over 110 years,” said Anders Sjoelin, president and CEO of S&C Electric Company. “We are proud to support these outstanding organizations and their tireless work to provide vital services and build equity in our communities.”

In recognition of the ongoing importance of food security, this year marks the second year S&C raised funds for Feeding America, in addition to three other Chicago-based organizations. This year’s largest donation, $191,912, went to Misericordia, a Rogers Park-based charity that helps individuals with disabilities achieve maximum independence and realize their greatest potential. CHC: Creating Healthier Communities, Feeding America, and United Way received $77,762, $74,762, and $63,237 respectively.

“The work that S&C Electric Company is doing to increase good health and wellbeing for many of Chicago’s most vulnerable residents is tremendous,” said Thomas Bognanno, CEO of CHC: Creating Healthier Communities. “CHC is proud to receive funding from such an industry-leading organization that supports our mission of aligning business and community leaders with high-impact nonprofits to create healthier communities.”

“Food insecurity existed long before the pandemic. Yet, sadly, the pandemic thrust even more of our neighbors into food insecurity,” said Lauren Biedron, vice president of corporate partnerships at Feeding America. “We are grateful for the generosity of organizations like S&C Electric Company for helping to provide more meals to communities who need it most. Every dollar raised will make a difference.”

“Philanthropy and community investment have been core to S&C’s values throughout our history, and the Annual Giving Campaign is just one example of how we strive to reflect those values every day,” said Sjoelin. “Over the last five years, the campaign has raised more than $2 million for charities throughout the Chicagoland area, and we look forward to playing a role in providing meaningful support to these organizations for years to come.”
